Precision livestock farming (PLF) is opening new opportunities to improve productivity, animal welfare, resource efficiency and environmental performance through real-time animal monitoring and data-driven herd management. Sensors, wearables, microclimate monitoring systems, AI and advanced analytics are helping producers to detect risks earlier, optimize management practices and improve operational farm performance.

Yet adoption remains uneven. High upfront costs, limited technical capacity, interoperability challenges and uncertain returns continue to slow wider uptake, especially at scale.
