From climate commitments to investable solutions: how can Food Loss and Waste (FLW) reduction deliver real impact for people, businesses and the planet?
On 9 November 2026 (12:30-13:30 UTC+3), EBRD, with the technical support of the FAO Investment Centre, will bring together public and private-sector leaders at COP31 to explore how data, innovation and partnership can accelerate action on one of the world’s most overlooked climate opportunities.
The fireside chat will feature insights from Ms Cansu Ergün (Migros), Mr Servet Akdoğan (Yenir) and Prof. Ayşen Erdinçler (Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality), and will be moderated by Ms Iride Ceccacci (EBRD).
The session will spotlight Türkiye’s experience and unveil a new Istanbul StoryMap that pinpoints food-waste hotspots, logistics bottlenecks and opportunities for investment, demonstrating how evidence can drive smarter policies and practical solutions at scale. This innovative StoryMap was developed as part of the EBRD-FAO Agrifood Climate and Environmental Sustainability (ACES) initiative, which supports the development of sustainable, resilient agrifood systems through innovative, low-carbon, climate-resilient solutions.
