EBRD Launches 2024 AgVenture Competition to Support Sustainable Agrifood Tech Startups

The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) is excited to announce the launch of the EBRD AgVenture competition for 2024. This initiative aims to support early-stage agrifood tech startups with innovative ideas that promote a more sustainable future.

The EBRD AgVenture is designed for startups operating in EBRD’s investment regions, with a focus on sustainability within the agrifood sector.  Winners will receive up to €80,000 in tailored advisory services through the EBRD’s Star Venture programme, as well as a €10,000 grant for further business development.

Participants will gain significant global visibility by showcasing their solutions at prominent agrifood tech forums. They will also benefit from extensive networking opportunities with EBRD, venture capitalists, and key partners such as EIT Food, Cambridge University’s Institute for Manufacturing, and the World Agri-Tech Innovation Summit.

The competition seeks to identify and support startups that are addressing environmental sustainability and climate solutions in the agrifood sector. Detailed eligibility criteria and application guidelines can be found here. The deadline for applications is 19 August 2024. The winning startups will be announced on 30th September 2024 at the World Agri-Tech Innovation Summit in London.

The EBRD encourages both existing and potential clients to engage more actively in the startup ecosystem by investing in cutting-edge technologies and exploring financing opportunities like corporate venture capital.

This initiative reflects the EBRD’s ongoing commitment to advancing sustainable practices and technological innovations in the agrifood sector.

The EBRD AgVenture competition is funded by Spain through the EBRD’s High-Impact Partnership on Climate Action – HIPCA (which is also supported by Austria, Canada, Finland, the Netherlands, South Korea, Switzerland, the TaiwanICDF, the United Kingdom and the United States of America).
