Food Security

Food security is at the core of FAO’s mandate. Since the food security crisis of 2007-2008, the EBRD and FAO have worked closely on several food security fronts. On the one hand, the two institutions have helped member countries to unlock their agricultural potential, in particular countries that can export staple foods and ease the situation on regional and global markets. On the other hand, support is provided to food insecure countries to make their food imports more efficient and less exposed to global crises such as the one resulting from the war in Ukraine.
